Will you be the one receiving this year’s ABB scholarship?

Aug 16, 2016 | Student Alumni Global Research/Cooperation

ABB will also this year award one student a scholarship within the field of robotics. All students at MDH, independent of what you’re studying, can apply for the scholarship.

Last year’s scholarship holder is Erick Vieyra, who’s studying the Master’s programme in Intelligent Embedded Systems at Mälardalen University. He was awarded the 25 000 SEK scholarship for his idea “Robot Baton”. Robot Baton is a joystick containing sensors as well as a camera that are registering the robot’s position as well as its movements. Two types of information are sent to the robot which in that way can be controlled. The objective with the winning contribution is to make it easier to install or programme a robot.

Erick Vieyra was surprised when being notified about the award

- I got very happy and it took a while to grasp that I had won. The best thing was when Dennis Helfridsson, Manager/VP of ABB Robotics, said that he likes my idea. That’s is big, Erick says.

The application for this years’ scholarship is open. All MDH students can apply, no matter the study programme.

Here’s more information about the scholarship and where to submit your application:

Please apply by September 18 at the latest.
