MDH one step nearer the new Eskilstuna campus

Jan 29, 2016 | On campus

In May last year a new procurement process started to find the company that is to build the new Eskilstuna campus and to ensure that there is a landlord when the building is ready. The procurement has now been completed and the University Board has decided to accept the tender of Serneke Bygg AB.

Universities and university colleges are not permitted to own the properties in which activities are conducted. To find a landlord who can offer good financial terms and high quality of management, operation and maintenance, a procurement process was begun in May 2015.

At an extra meeting on 28 January the University Board took the decision that the company which is to build the new Eskilstuna campus will be Serneke Bygg AB. The company shall also ensure that there is a landlord when MDH’s activities move into the new campus.

- The University Board’s decision is yet another important step in the creation of a new Eskilstuna campus. Our goal is to create a university building that gathers all activities into one and the same place and offers proximity and more meeting places, which is what both students and staff are asking for. It’s also important that the new building contributes to the city centre in Eskilstuna in a positive way, says Acting Vice-Chancellor Paul Pettersson.
