MDH and the University restaurants celebrate the World Environment Day

The World Environment Day was established after the UN's Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm in 1972 and is celebrated each year on 5 June around the world. In order to celebrate this year's World Environment Day the University restaurants at MDH will be serving a climate smart menu on Friday 3 June.
- Our everyday products such as milk, coffee and tea are already environmentally labelled today, and we are working all the time replacing more and more products with sustainable equivalents. But on 3 June our menu will be entirely climate smart, says Kim Maarva, Kitchen Manager of the University restaurants.
For MDH it is a matter of course to take part in and celebrate the World Environment Day.
- In1999 we were the first University in the world to become environmentally certified and we are working all the time to reduce our impact on the environment. Among other things our objectives are that the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions per employee will be reduced by three percent by the end of 2016. The World Environment Day is a way to increase awareness about the environment and the future, says Rebecka Malmgren, the Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator at MDH.
