MDH's Business study programmes in international review

May 16, 2016 | Student

MDH is in the middle of a process of applying for EPAS accreditation for the International Business Management programme and the Master's programme in International Marketing. To become accredited is an indication that the programmes maintain high quality and stand up well from an international perspective.

EPAS is an international accreditation system that evaluates business programmes at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. The review is to be carried out by the European Foundation for Management Development organisation (EFMD).

The people involved in the work on the EPAS accreditation are Sikander Khan, Jimmie Röndell and Ingemar Haglund at EST. They see a number of advantages with what accreditation could mean.

– Accreditation means that we get approval from EFMD that we have study programmes that live up to international requirements. For our prospective students it is valuable proof that the study programme maintains high quality and that those who apply for it here make a good choice.

The group sees several advantages with accreditation.

- Internally this results in our thinking in a new way regarding the quality of our programmes. It will facilitate matters in future reviews that the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ) implement.  Externally it will facilitate cooperation with other HEIs (higher education institutions) that have accreditations, a road that is otherwise closed.

If the International Business Management and Master's programme in International Marketing are given accreditation, the University will continue to be reviewed on a regular basis.

– The process does not end if we are given accreditation, rather the opposite. We will continue to devote time and commitment to developing our courses and study programmes. This implies a big obligation. EPAS is no sprint race - more of a marathon.

At the end of May 2017 the decision will be taken about whether MDH's Business study programmes are to be given EPAS accreditation.
