MDH bachelor’s degree in education declared to be of very high quality

Oct 01, 2014 | Student

Universitetskanslersämbetet (UKÄ, the Swedish Higher Education Authority) has evaluated all university programmes in education, didactics, educational sciences and related fields of study. MDH is the only university in Sweden that received the ‘very high quality’ verdict for its bachelor in education.

Through the year 2014, UKÄ will evaluate the quality of all university programmes leading to a degree. Today, the outcome of the evaluation of the country’s programmes in education, didactics, educational sciences and related fields of study was published. A third of the programmes, 19 out of 57, were deemed to be of insufficient quality.

Only five of the country’s programmes were judged to be of very high quality, and MDH is alone in being given the ‘very high quality’ label for a bachelor’s degree in education.

– This confirms that MDH has one of Sweden’s best programmes in education, something that was achieved thanks to very competent and committed teachers. Today, I feel particularly proud of them and of being a part of MDH, says Pia Lindberg, Dean of the School of Education, Culture and Communication.

From the evaluators’ written report, it can be concluded that the organization, structure and content of the programme constitute important reasons for its success.
