800 researchers to Sweden's energy capital

Västerås consolidates its role as Sweden's energy capital when MDH hosts the conference "International Conference in Applied Energy" with over 800 energy researchers from 54 countries.


"International Conference in Applied Energy" (ICAE) will be organized 12-15 August by MDH and the journal Applied Energy.

The theme of the conference is applied energy and the researchers will present about 700 papers on the latest in topics such as renewable energy, energy storage, conversion of clean energy and intelligent energy systems.

The conference opens Tuesday, 13 August in the Aros Congress Center by Governor of the County of Västmanland Minoo Akhtarzand and three keynote speakers:
  • Björn Jonsson, Head of Industrial Automation Division, and HUB Manager Control Technologies Northern Europe, ABB AB, Sweden
  • Prof. Stephanie Pinceti, Founding Director Center for Sustainable Communities, Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, UCLA, USA 
  • Dr. Michael Obersteiner, Program Director of the Ecosystems Services and Management Program, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Austria.

After lunch on Tuesday, researchers' presentations will start in smaller groups at MDH's campus. The researchers will also be able to visit VafabMiljö as well as Eskilstuna Energi & Miljö.

The conference has previously been held in Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, China, South Africa, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
